Short-term TSS visa applicants may get a visa of up to 2 years. A further 2 years of stay is possible in case of an International Trade Obligation (ITO). Visa holders can travel as many times as they want. The current processing times vary between 44 days and 15 months. The short-term 482 option is used to hire temporary overseas workers.

The medium-term visa holders can stay for up to 4 years. This option is used to hire highly skilled workers. Visa holders can apply for permanent residence after 3 years. The processing times vary from 30 days to 9 months.

This visa option is available to employers who have Labor agreements with the Australian Government. The visa duration is up to 4 years, and the processing times vary from 34 days to 7 months.

TSS Visa Occupation List

The Skilled Occupation list of the dept. of home affairs contains all the eligible occupations. The list can be sorted by short-term and medium-term 482 streams, along with several other streams.

FAQs

The occupation list changes with labor market requirements. Therefore, there is no guarantee that a job will that is in demand today will be in demand in the future as well.

In case of a termination of sponsorship, you will have to find another sponsor or a 482 visa alternative. Note that you will have to leave Australia within 60 days if you don’t receive approval for the new sponsorship.

Family members of TSS visa holders can work and/or study in Australia.

Medium-term and short-term visa holders can apply for permanent residency, provided they meet the PR eligibility requirements. However, employers are not required to sponsor TSS workers for PR.
